If you can get out between hurricanes, the fishing in the St. Lucie River has been good. The Mullet run is in full affect. Tarpon have been all over the place chasing bait. You can find them throughout the river suspended in 4-8' of water. John has been throwing a lot of DOA plastics at the Tarpon but the fly caster would be well off to try large Rootbeer Schminnows with red lead eyes on a quick sinking line. Tarpon have also been laid up on the flats well into the late morning. Early morning is a great time to throw topwater flies on the flats. Try Dalberg Divers or Gurglers. The Snook bite there has been excellent. There have been Trout mixed in, as well as Jacks running up to 10lbs. The night fishing was hurt by Hurricane Francis. Most of the lights close to the water got washed away or damaged. The lights on the bridges are still working and holding plenty of Snook and some Tarpon.
