Capt. Scott Hamilton - Palm Beach

The ocean is in a transition period into it's winter mood. There have been good catches of Dolphin and little Blackfins. Look for UFOs (unidentified floating objects) and diving birds. Nothing beats an Eat Me Fly on these fish. Use brighter colors like Chartreuse or Pink when the water is stained. Kingfish are starting to be caught a little more frequently, but the best action will come after a few more cold fronts. This is a good time to start Sailfishing with a fly. Troll the temperture and color changes with hookless teasers (rubber skirt squids or rigged Ballyhoo) and keep your eyes on it. When a Sail (or big Dolphin for that matter) starts slashing at it, crank it into casting range and throw a big bright Offshore Popper behind the fish after yanking the teaser out of the water. Bust out the big reels and rods! There's action closer inshore as well. Schools of Bluefish and Spanish Mackerel are running close to the beach and big Jacks are showing up in and around the inlet.
