Capt. John Meskauskas - Stuart

Fishing around the St. Lucie River and Inlet has been frustrating. The water is in poor shape and visiblity is only about 4". To add to that, the beaches have been on the rough side. Blind casting in and along the edges of visible bait pods is the best bet. Jacks, Snook, and Ladyfish will all be lurking around. Throw them flies they can see like Chartreuse Polar Fiber Minnows, Eat Me Flies, and Big Eye Deceivers.

Capt. Eric Herstedt - Flamingo

The fly fishing around Flamingo has been weird and difficult. There's plenty of baitfish but the predators are spead out. A typical day is spent looking for Reds and both small and large Tarpon. The Trout fishing is slow but will improve quickly as more cold front move through. The most consistent fishing has been for sharks. Chum them close with strips of Ladyfish and throw BIG orange flies on floating lines. Get the wire and the big rods out!
